The construction sector is one of Norway’s most important industries. The sector is subject to detailed public regulation. In addition, contracts between the parties to construction projects are comprehensive and complex. The sector faces increasing regulation and the need for advice during the course of projects is ever-greater. Construction disputes are often extensive, lengthy and resource-intensive. In addition to legal expertise, experience from general dispute resolution is needed, as well as experience in assessing litigation risk in construction disputes.
Our construction team has extensive and broad experience, including from some of the largest building and construction projects in Norway. Our partners within this area have 10-40 years of experience. This experience includes acting as advisers during projects, as legal counsel in litigation and as mediators and arbitrators.
We mainly advise construction clients in larger building and construction projects, and in difficult dispute cases. Our attorneys have thorough knowledge of and experience in dealing with the key standard form contracts used in building and construction projects, and one of our attorneys played a key role in drafting the NS 8405 standard form contract.
We also have many years of experience in assisting consultants in building and construction projects in cases that raise issues of consultants’ liability, engineering liability, etc.
Our team ranks at the top (tier 1) with all international rating agencies (Chambers Global, Chambers Europe and Legal 500) within construction. BAHR also ranks at the top (tier 1) with all international rating agencies within dispute resolution. Three of our construction attorneys are admitted to the Supreme Court and have argued several of the construction cases heard by the Supreme Court.
