Amund Bjøranger Tørum new partner at BAHR
Mr. Tørum joins BAHR from a position as professor at the Nordic Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo. In addition to his academic career, Mr. Tørum has had a long career as a lawyer. He holds a doctorate in law (2006), is authorised to appear before the Norwegian Supreme Court (2017), and is a certified arbitrator.
Over the past 20 years, Mr. Tørum has chaired and participated in a large number of arbitrations, particularly in the fields of energy, shipping, offshore, marine insurance, construction and M&A. He has contributed to the development of the field through extensive publications and key positions.
– Amund is one of the industry’s foremost experts in dispute resolution and arbitration. He has a rare combination of extensive practical experience from demanding commercial cases and a strong academic background. This combination will contribute to strengthening BAHR’s position as the first choice for national and international disputes, says Thomas K. Svensen, BAHR’s Managing Partner.
– In addition to the combination of academic rigour and commercial and strategic experience, Amund is also a pleasant and inclusive person – someone that both clients and employees appreciate working with. We look forward to having him as a colleague, says Adele Matheson Mestad, head of BAHR’s dispute resolution group.
– In recent years, BAHR has consolidated its position as a key player in international arbitration and commercial dispute resolution. I look forward to becoming part of BAHR’s strong professional culture and contributing to the further development of one of the country’s leading professional environments within dispute resolution, says Amund Bjøranger Tørum.
