Dispute Resolution
One client describes the lawyers as ‘very accessible and very experienced,’ adding that ‘they also have excellent skills to appreciate and understand complex matters… it is a large law firm, so they have been able to draw on other departments in other areas.’
BAHR – resolving disputes with tact and tenacity
No one enjoys litigation. It can waste time and resources, damage commercial relationships and distract employees. Nonetheless, sometimes fighting remains the best option.
Only deep experience can tell you which course to take. At BAHR we have that experience. We provide strategic advice and manage legal risk and liability. We aim, wherever possible, to prevent, contain and settle disputes without going to court. However, if a situation calls for determination, we protect our clients’ interests with firmness and skill. This combination of tact and tenacity has seen us instructed in many of Norway’s largest recent cases, such as:
- Appearing for certain stakeholders in Gassled in a NOK 34 billion Supreme Court case concerning the Norwegian Government’s decision to reduce gas transportation tariffs.
- Representing DNB Bank in disputes over alleged wrongful payments of c. NOK 450 million from the government to one of DNB’s customers.
- Representing telecommunication company Ice Group in an ongoing c. NOK 1,3 billion dispute against US hedge fund lender over several alleged breaches of a loan agreement.
At BAHR our large, dedicated dispute resolution group has experience of resolving problems in all the main commercial areas, including contractual disputes, company, directors and shareholder disputes, and professional liability and negligence. We also work with colleagues from across the firm to resolve disputes in specialist areas, such as energy, IP, TMT, competition, M&A, employment, construction, shipping, insurance, insolvency and tax.
We represent leading companies in domestic and international arbitration and complex court matters. We are also regularly appointed as mediators and arbitrators.
